If you are considering buying a new grill sometime soon, there are a few concepts you need to know about common grill features that will help you make a smart decision. It can be a perplexing operation if you have no idea what you are seeing or what all those abbreviations stand for. In the accompanying article I will explain how you can go about figuring these features out and how you can put that knowledge to good use.
When selecting a new grill, one of the first things you need to consider is the fuel type. It is important to choose a type that fits you needs. The three basic types are: charcoal, wood, and gas. There are variations on each type of course.
You must understand most if not all of the different grill terms if you want to buy a new outdoor grill this season. The most common phrase that you will hear is that of the British Thermal Unit (BTU). A BTU is the quantity of heat it takes to raise one pound of water by one degree.
Surface size and grilling area is another important factor to keep in mind when choosing grills. A huge grill and surface area might go to waste on a single guy and small grill might not be enough for one with a family. It just depends on what you need at the time. Just remember that too much is never a bad thing.
If you don't want to spend hours on upkeep and cleaning, you might want to look into all the different self-cleaning and helpful characteristics that many outdoor grills have nowadays. Even if they do not come with a self cleaning mode, some do come with features that significantly accelerate cleaning time or make it easier on you. Like for example some have a special cleaning door that makes it effortless to clean up. You will just have to research all the different options before you make a decision.
Now that you have learned about the different features its time to go and pick the right grill for you. First you need to look all the various fuel types that would be acceptable for you and make an informed decision about which would be best for your situation. Then you need to look at the different sizes and brands of that particular type of outdoor grill. And last but not least, look at the varying special amenities that you need and see which models have them. Then it's just a matter of price vs quality. If you have followed along in this article than you should have no trouble at all.

Natural Gas Outdoor Grills
I wanted to go into more detail about natural gas grills after my last post outlined the major types of grills available today. I personally use a natural gas grill in my own home so I wanted to share some more information about this type of outdoor grill.
Natural gas outdoor grills are easy to use and don't require any extra fuel so no more trips to the store. They don't require extra fuel because they hook directly into the gas line already in your home. They are also very easy to clean. With charcoal and smoker grills, you have to remove the wood and charcoal briquettes each time. Natural grills only have to be wiped down. Some natural gas grills even have a no stick feature.

Types of Outdoor Grills
There are many types of grills on the market today and it can be confusing trying to decide which to choose. Well there are subtle differences between them and which one to pick will depend on what you want to do with your outdoor grill. I will cover each type of grill in very short detail below.
Charcoal Grills
Charcoal grills are usually smaller and more portable then other types of grills and doesn't require gas containers to be dragged around. They run on charcoal briquettes.
Propane Grills
Outdoor propane grills run on propane and are medium to large sized, not really that portable generally. They do start up quickly and are ready to start grilling much sooner than charcoal grills though. Gas also leaves almost no traces so all you taste is the food.
Natural Gas Grills
Natural gas grills hook directly into your house's gas line so you never have to purchase more fuel. But because they are designed that way you will not be able to bring them anywhere.
Smoker Grills
Smoker grills work by slow burning wood and using the smoke that it creates to cook the food. They give the food they cook a distinct flavor based on the type of wood used.
